NYC 2015 Marathon: Kenya's Mary Keitany and Stanley Biwott Win

Kenya’s Stanley Biwott and Mary Keitany have won the titles at the TCS New York City Marathon on Sunday November 1, 2015.

By winning, Mary Keitany, 33,  a mom of two children  became the first woman to repeat a win since Paula Radcliffe in 2008. She is a two-time London Marathon winner.  Last year, she won by just 3 seconds, in her first marathon since 2012, after giving birth to her

second child. Paula Radcliffe is the only female in history faster than Keitany.  

Mary Keitany beat the Ethiopia’s Tigist Tufa and Aselefech Mergia. Aselefech Mergia placed second , one minute and six seconds (2:25.32) after Keitany.

Stanley Biwott placed second in London Marathon last Year. He finished in 2 hours, 10 minutes, 34 seconds, beating Geoffrey Kamworor, another Kenyan by 14 seconds.

It was estimated that more than 50,000 runners were expected to finish the NYC marathon.

The wins solidify the reputation of Kenyan marathon runners.
