Chadwick Boseman, Black Panther Movie Star, Dies of Cancer

Chadwick Boseman,  a Black american movie star, best known for playing Black Panther in the movie produced by  Marvel Studiis, has died of colon cancer. He was  43 years old. According to a statement posted on social media, Chadwick Boseman died at his home in Los Angeles ,  his wife, Taylor Simone Ledward, and and his  family by his side. The sudden death shocked and stunned  the World, the film industry, and the Black community, in general.

 Chadwick Boseman was born in Anderson, South Carolina. His mother was a nurse and his father worked at a textile factory and as an upholstery entrepreneur. He graduated from Howard University in Washington DC,  in 2000 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Directing.  He played roles in television, including in Third Watch in 2003 and All My Children.  It wasn't until 2013 that Boseman got a major hit in the film 42.  In 2016, Bosemand starred in  the Marvel Comics  Captain America: Civil War as the character T'Challa or Black Panther. In 2018, Boseman returned to Howard  university to speak at its graduation ceremony. In his speeck, he said: "Some of you here struggled against the university itself. Many of you will leave Howard and enter systems and institutions that have a history of discrimination and marginalisation. The fact that you have struggled with this university which you love is a sign that you can use your education to improve the world that you are entering."

Many high profiles Americans and figures around the World paid tribute.

Former Vice President Joe Biden  and Democratic Party Presidential candidate tweeted:"The true power of @ChadwickBoseman was bigger than anything we saw on screen. From the Black Panther to Jackie Robinson, he inspired generations and showed them they can be anything they want — even super heroes."


Marvel Studios sated: "Our hearts are broken and our thoughts are with Chadwick Boseman’s family. Your legacy will live on forever."

Kamala Harris, the Democratic VP Nomineed said on Twitter, posting a picture she took with Chadwick Boseman: "Heartbroken. My friend and fellow Bison Chadwick Boseman was brilliant, kind, learned, and humble. He left too early but his life made a difference. Sending my sincere condolences to his family."

 Former President Barack Obama, described Boseman as "blessed" in his posting on Twitter: "Chadwick came to the White House to work with kids when he was playing Jackie Robinson. You could tell right away that he was blessed. To be young, gifted, and Black; to use that power to give them heroes to look up to; to do it all while in pain – what a use of his years"
 
 Angela Bassett, a Black Panther  co-star wrote on Instagram "This young man’s dedication was awe-inspiring, his smile contagious, his talent unreal. So I pay tribute to a beautiful spirit, a consummate artist, a soulful brother...‘thou aren’t not dead but flown afar...’. All you possessed, Chadwick, you freely gave. Rest now, sweet prince."
