President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, 60 years old, the current president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and one of the most AfroAmerica Network influential Black Men of Year 2024 (see here AfroAmerica Network Most Influential Black Persons as of 2024)  won the December 20, 2023 presidential elections. He was sworn in for the second term on Saturday January 20, 2024. His remarkable swearing-in ceremony was attended by more than forty delegations, including 20 heads of state and government.
Since Félix Tshisekedi was declared the winner and getting to start his second term, the attention has shifted towards  the worsening security situation in the DR Congo due to the invasion by  the Rwandan military under the cover of M23 rebels and his promises directed against the Rwandan dictator Paul Kagame.

The  swearing-in ceremony was held at the Martyrs Stadium of Kinshasa. People started to come in around 4:00 AM, Kinshasa Time.  Ian his speech  Félix Tshisekedi confirmed that his agenda for the next five years will focus on job creation, monetary policies,  security, and access to basic services. "This new five-year term will have the objectives of creating more jobs, protecting household purchasing power by stabilizing the exchange rate, ensuring security much more effectively, continuing the diversification of our economy, guarantee more access to basic services", he said.

The reelection of Félix Tshisekedi was welcomed by the leaders of the  governments of the  United States of America, the  People's  Republic of China,  European Union countries,  and  key African countries.

The leaders of the  US Government have reaffirmed their commitment to support President Felix Tshisekedi in his fight against corruption and insecurity.

For the swearing-in ceremony the President of the United States of America Joe Biden sent  a presidential delegation  to Kinshasa. This delegation was led by the Honorable Scott Nathan, Managing Director of the United States International Development Finance Corporation and composed of  Ambassador Lucy Tamlyn, United States Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo,  Ms. Mary Catherine Phee, Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of African Affairs, United States Department of State;  Ms. Monde Muyangwa, Deputy Administrator for Africa Bureau, United States Agency for International Development and  Ms. Chidi Blyden, Deputy Managing Director, Millennium Challenge Corporation

In fact, on Friday night, December 8, 2023,  President Félix Tshisekedi  on a presidential campaign for his reelection, while addressing his supporters, compared the Rwandan dictator Paul Kagame to the late German NAZI leader Adolf Hitler.  President Tshisekedi then  promised that,  if reelected, his first priority is to overthrow the current Rwandan regime led by Paul Kagame. (DR Congo Elections : UN Experts New Report, as Felix Tshisekedi is Expected to be Reelected and Overthrow Rwandan Dictator Paul Kagame.).

Leaders of the neighboring countries of DRC and other key African states also attended the ceremony. These include Republic of Congo  dictator Denis Sassou Nguesso,  South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa, Burundi President Evariste Ndayishimiye, Senegal President Macky Sall,  Kenyan President William Ruto,  Togolese Military junta leader Faure Gnassigbé.

President Félix Tshisekedi's swearing-in ceremony was  a remarkable event after so many years of African Presidents avoiding to be officially associated with DRC president. For the swearing-in ceremony of former President Joseph Kabila In 2011, only one head of state, Robert Mugabe attended. In the swearing ceremony  of 2018 marking the end of the Kabila regime,  only Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta attended.

As the ceremony was concluding, the conversations among the people who attended focused on the next steps and the potential war with Rwandan military, as the  security situation in  Eastern  DR Congo  continues to weight on the population, due to the invasion by  the Rwandan military under the cover of M23 rebels.

The  mostly raised questions by the Congolese people are related to  whether, during his second term, President  Felix Tshisekedi will fulfill his promises directed against the Rwandan dictator Paul Kagame, that include counter attacks into Rwanda  to overthrow of the  Rwandan dictatorship led by Paul Kagame. A related question is whether super powers including the United States of America and the People's Republic of China will support the Congolese counter-attack.
